Harriet Miers withdraws her nomination

It looks like White House Counsel, Harriet Miers has thrown in the towel. Oh well, we didn’t know much about her except for the fact that she ran a lottery in Texas and went to church…sounds like a stellar candidate to us. Perhaps the President has finally lost it, or perhaps he knew something we didn’t. I guess we’ll never know, but then again, could we have afforded to take such a risk? Now the president has an opportunity to get it right the second time. Hopefully, the President will choose someone with constitutional experience. That person by no means has to be a judge, but they certainly should be a constitutional expert, which Miers clearly was not. With her legal expertise, Bush could have done no worse had he called Jacoby and Myers. After all if trial experience is the only requirement why should the president limit his choices to friends from Texas.
