Remember Iran, the nation that has been behind some of the world’s most deadly terror attacks since the 1980s. The same nation that claims it is developing nuclear technology for energy purposes, when it has one of the world’s largest supplies of oil and natural gas. Well it seems Iran’s complicity in fomenting chaos and destruction continues unabated. According to evidence uncovered by British authorities, Iran has been implicated in supporting insurgent terror attacks in Iraq. Iran denies the link and Iraqi officials have called the Iranians to task on the issue and again the Iranians have denied involvement. Britain isn’t the only country raising questions about Iranian involvement in Iraq. The Saudis have also raised concerns that Iran is stirring unrest, perhaps because they wish to see a resurgent Shia majority in Iraq, as in Iran. Publicly, Iran claims that it wants to see a stable Iraq, but is that believable? Keep in mind that during the 1980s, Iran and Iraq fought a brutal and bloody war, with no resolution. One must also recognize the fact, that Iran and Iraq are the only countries in the region with the manpower and the resources to dominate the region (politically, economically and militarily). Iran would benefit greatly if Iraq remained weak and divided, as it would leave Iran as the sole power in the region. Something the Mullahs in Tehran would relish with great joy. Indeed, Iran, if successful, could urge the Shia’s in the south to seek Independence joining with Iran for a Shia Superstate, which could create havoc in the region for decades. Make no mistake about it, what Iran says and what Iran does are almost always two different things. All the while up until the point it happens they will proudly profess their innocence and naivety, while secretly working to undermine the fabric of Iraq as they seek to enhance their own power. This combined with their not so secret desire to develop nuclear weapons makes Iran a real danger. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4315924.stm
