Islam on the march: Terror Attack in Jordan

The list grows ever longer with each passing hour, day, week and year. More and more countries can add themselves to the list of radical Islam’s terror victims. Today we can add the Kingdom of Jordan to that list, though technically speaking; Jordan has seen such terror inspired violence before. Yesterday coordinated bomb attacks in the city of Amman killed dozens at Amman area hotels.
So far the death toll stands at 57, with hundreds injured. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi claimed responsibility for the attack in the name of Al Qaeda. Al-Zarqawi, a Jordanian himself, is responsible for hundreds, if not thousands, of murders over the past 2 years in Iraq and now it seems he is expanding his focus. Presumably the hotels that were struck were targeted because of the large number of westerners staying at those hotels. Many of those killed, however, were Arabs, but this is of no-consequence to radical Islam, they draw no distinction between Arab or Westerner, Christian or Muslim. Their goal is simply to inflict as much pain and suffering as is humanly possible. To foment a climate of fear so overwhelming in scope that the mere mention of the name Al Qaeda inspires talk of submission.
Of all the countries in the Middle East, opinions polls indicate that Jordan has harbored the most support for the terror war being conducted by Al Qaeda and the like, with the vast majority of Jordanians sympathizing with the goals of radical Islam. Jordan, by contemporary standards, however, is a largely secular nation. Under the rules of the game, as laid out by Al Qaeda and company, such lax observance of Islamic orthodoxy makes Jordan a fair target. Remember the credo: submit, convert or die. Its not sufficient in the minds of radicals to be labeled a Muslim, one must be a Muslim in the mold of an Ayatollah or a Ben Laden. Perhaps this act of savagery will open the eyes of the blind.
