It is a forgone conclusion that the Republicans will loose control of Congress in 2006 and stand a strong chance of loosing the White House in 2008. Lets face its face the GOP has done a miserable job since gaining both the White House and Congress. Spending is out is out of control and all of the president’s grandiose promises will never come to fruition. The only real fear is the Democrats, who are destined to be worse once they gain total control. In reality it seems the government functions best when divided. Such as during the late 1990s when the GOP controlled Congress and Clinton and Company kept shop in the White House.

If the Democrats gain control of of both the legislative and Executive branches of government we can be sure to see a new era in America an era of astronomical spending that will make the Bush spending spree seem almost tame. An era of increased vulnerability as the Dems neglect national security and an era of diminished individual liberty. Unfortunately the GOP will bare much of the blame for this travesty as they have become wholly corrupted by power, falling into the Democratic trap. Can anyone in this day and age say exactly what the GOP stands for? That’s assuming they actually stand for something. How foolish are these Republicans? Clearly they must realize that the deck is already stacked against them. Democrats, like the hardened political soldiers they are, will exploit every weakness and the media, already a tool of the left, has been itching for the GOP to trip up and with perfect consistency the GOP has provided plenty of material.

Its a pity this country doesn’t have a strong third party, in the mold of the Libertarians, who can deny either side a majority thus keeping the parties relatively honest, forcing them not to surrender to the excesses of power. In a few years America will be a very different place, but we only have ourselves to blame. As a nation, a larger and larger proportion of our society have come to believe that government exist to absolve individuals of personal responsibility, regardless of the fact that such an act also absolves us of personal freedom and even free will. Such a renunciation of choice will succeed in creating a subject class of citizens, we need not hesitate to call them slaves. Slaves, not to a plantation owner or wealthy planter, but slaves to the state. This master, however, like the masters of the antebellum era also claim to act in our best interest, but God did not give man free will, only to surrender it to another man.
