As sure as we live and breathe, if you live in America, you have been lied to by quite a few people. You were lied to by your parents on the subject of Santa Claus, a shameful pattern which only distracts from the true meaning of Christmas. You were lied to by your high school sweetheart when they said they would always love you. You were lied to by your children when they said “I didn’t do it.” But perhaps the biggest lie, sadly, comes from our elected representatives in Washington. Indeed, with few exceptions practically every utterance is deception in the highest sense. These politicians of all parties, genders, races and from all regions of the country are governed by the same motivation: power. The seek to be reelected and to enhance their political influence, thusly they are wholly willing and capable to employ all manners of deceit and treachery to achieve those objectives.

The lies your congressmen have told you are many and the list expands with each passing minute and hour. These are but a few of the lies we have been told: Social Security is best managed by the government, private development constitutes public use, raising taxes increases government revenues, a progressive income tax is not a back door to socialism, incessant government spending and pork barrel projects are essential, every American has a right to a job, the death penalty deters crime, welfare helps to alleviate poverty, socialized medicine is the wave of the future, everyone can’t afford to go to college, Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, the US should never act unilaterally, the minimum wage is too low, free trade is harmful to the US economy, agricultural subsidies are necessary, terrorism is caused by the war in Iraq, the economy is performing poorly, etc.

Needless to say we could go on for some time, but we are fairly confident that our readers are keen to notice when the wool is being pulled over their eyes. Exactly what lies will our congressmen tell us tomorrow. Be sure to visit often as we will be glad to point them out.
