Chavez threatens to cut off US

Only this weekend we discussed the ongoing peril foreign oil poses for the United States, and now there is word from Venezuela, that
Mussolini Chavez and company have threatened to cut off oil exports to the United States.
Venezuela is one of the top 5 oil exporters to the US. The Chavez government argues that such a step could be used to counter supposed US “aggression.” Venezuela argues that they can easily find other buyers for their oil. Such threats have been repeated frequently by Chavez and his cronies, but the reality is, Venezuela has significantly increased oil sales to China, Latin America and throughout the world. Such news should trouble US policy makers.
Once again the dangers of foreign oil are revealed in the tenuous relationship between Washington and Caracas. China, has been quick to secure energy reserves from the Middle East to Latin America and would be more than happy to import more Venezuelan oil. So what is the US government doing to counter this very real threat? Not much, and without a comprehensive national energy policy, this country will remain vulnerable to the whims of Latin American tyrants and tyrants from around the world
