The news has become so consistent and constant that the White House Communications staff should have grown tired from issues so many press releases and staging so many press conferences, but sadly news of the continued success of the US economy goes by without even a whimper from the administration.

The January unemployment rate declined to a low of 4.7%, the lowest rate in 4 years. This news comes as no surprise to regular Phalanx readers. The US economy has performed spectacularly since emerging from the 2000-01 Recession. Not only has the economy created millions of jobs, but economic growth has been phenomenal as well. Contrast that with Nations like France and Germany where growth is nonexistent and unemployment continues to reach record heights, 12.1% in Germany alone.

This information is not likely to be referenced by the left who persist in a campaign of disinformation as they seek to bolster their chances in the fall elections. Sadly, the president isn’t likely to trumpet this success either. Never before have we witnessed a president who was more willing to allow the opposition to set the agenda in Washington. Can anyone imagine Clinton falling for such a trap laid by the Republicans?

Indeed, Bush either lacks an interest in promoting his successes or perhaps he does not view them as a successes. Either way, his silence plays into the hands of the Democrats who know full well that a lie can quickly become the truth if it goes unanswered. We have already seen several polls, which the media so gleefully publish on a regular basis, which shows marginal support for Bush and his handling of the economy. Such results highlight the success of the leftist’s disinformation campaign and the failure of Bush to highlight to wisdom of lower taxes and limited interference.
