Brokeback agenda…

Anyone who is a regular Phalanx reader knows full well that homosexual homophobia doesn’t reside in this corner of cyberspace. The subject matter is, quite frankly, a non-issue. If two consenting adults wish to engage in homosexual behavior, that’s a matter for those two individuals to ponder. We as outsiders have no business interfering in the lives of others, so long has those individuals do not infringe our rights.

Therein lies a fundamental hallmark of libertarian philosophy, in contrast with conservatives and our fellow Christians who view it as their holy duty to dictate how others live their lives in some foolish belief that in doing so, they are somehow saving sinners from themselves. In reality, if homosexuality is wrong and is a sin, then it is their sin and they must answer for it. Those who advocate using the power of the state to coerce others to embrace a particular point of view are not of God and are no better than the mullahs of Tehran or the Taliban. Lest we forget Christ did not discriminate against sinners, nor call on Rome to impose its will on the sinner. Christ called on sinners to repent on their own and used his life as model by which others should follow. Otherwise Christ would have entered the world as a centurion, rather than a carpenter.

Having said this, the backlash over Brokeback Mountain is equally hypocritical. Advocates for gay rights argue that homophobia is the primary reason behind Crash being chosen as best picture, rather than Brokeback Mountain. By their argument, if you didn’t like Brokeback Mountain, then you are a homophobe. This argument is no different than those who contend that if you criticize a person of color you are somehow a racist. Must we then presume that if we don’t like Japanese food or drive a Chevy instead of a Toyota that we are somehow prejudice toward the Japanese? The simple fact of the matter is Crash was chosen because the “voters” within the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (sic) deemed it a better movie.

This outcry highlights a fundamental design flaw in the mind of the leftist: an inability to accept reality without making excuses for their shortcomings. Brokeback Mtn was clearly a better picture so it had to be homophobia. By the same token Al Gore clearly was the better candidate so there had to be fraud as the reasoning behind his electoral failure. Bush is a conservative, thus the terror threat must be hyped, such reasoning is devoid of logic, though typical of the leftist mentality.
