Clinton: Youth has “entitlement” attitude

Has New York’s junior senator been reading the Phalanx, or like all politicians has she simply adopted a strategy of playing both ends against the middle in a on going effort to drum up support for her as yet unannounced presidential bid? According to Senator Clinton, young people in this country have an entitlement attitude, expecting reward without merit (isn’t that the mantra of the Democratic Party).
"Kids, for whatever reason, think they're entitled to go right to the top with $50,000 or $75,000 jobs when they have not done anything to earn their way up…A lot of kids don't know what work is. They think work is a four-letter word…We've got to send a different message to our young people. America didn't happen by accident. A lot of people worked really hard. They've got to do their part, too."
Clinton’s comments were clearly crafted to play well with more conservative leaning constituents. The Senator knows that an extreme liberal would have difficulty winning crossover appeal with voters, for that reason Clinton has consistently portrayed herself as a moderate, taking divergent views that often contrast with her leftist powerbase.
The senator from New York attributed this entitlement mentality she spoke of to a host of sources, including: television, cellphones and the Internet. According to Clinton, these technological innovations have instilled a sense of instant gratification, which “argues against hard work.”
One group she didn’t blame, however, was parents whose own work ethic has diminished over the years, nor did she mention her leftist compatriots who have long instilled the belief that government is the crutch upon which a complacent society rests. In reality its not technology that has fomented the sloth mentality in America, it’s the absence of values instilled in children during their developmental years. Today’s parents are too lazy even to discipline their own children and when those children make mistakes are get into trouble, these same parents seek to blame others for their own failures. While Clinton’s warning that today’s youth are competing for the future is an accurate representation, her words ring hollow, given the work of the Senator and other leftists who tireless labor to grow a culture of dependence in this country, forever tied to the state.

Chelsea graduated college and began earning well in excess of a 6 figure salary. I guess work is different for the well connected.
