The Re-Election of Ray Chocolate City Nagin

“Take me down to the Chocolate City where the bribes are green and the incompetence ain’t pretty… Oh, won't you please take me home.” No doubt, these were the inspired words of Ray “Chocolate City” Nagin upon learning of his reelection victory in this weekend’s runoff election for New Orleans mayor.
The success of Nagin’s candidacy clearly demonstrates the stupidity and incompetence of the New Orleans voter, no wonder so many rubes stayed behind upon hearing of the evacuation call last summer. If ever there were a politician who did not deserve re-election it was Ray Nagin. Nagin’s incompetence, buffoonery and
Mussolini-esque blame game demonstrates beyond question his lack of qualifications. What this election also proves is the unviability of popular elections in this country, so long as any brain dead slug can cast a ballot.
Nagin failed the city of New Orleans as its chief executive, and while the federal and state officials can share in that failure, Nagin’s failure was paramount. His failure to follow his city’s own evacuation procedures likely cost hundreds of lives, but as demagogues through the centuries have proven if you can castigate someone else, if you can speak loudly, create a commotion and draw attention away from your own short comings you will win the undying love of your people.
Nagin has learned this lesson well and the people of New Orleans are worse off because of it.
