No sympathy for thugs, murderers and rapists

In the city of Atlanta the Fulton County jail was recently placed on “lockdown,” several hundred inmates were not allowed out of their cells during this weeklong period.
According to a spokesman with the Fulton county Sheriff’s office, which runs the facility, the lockdown was ordered on May 26 when inmates in two wings of the jail refused to follow orders from jail staff. Naturally, lawyers for several inmates have condemned the action and some are threatening legal action.
The poor inmates were denied recreation and weren’t allowed to make phone calls. The poor things, it’s always a shame when murderers and rapists have to go without a few creature comforts. Perhaps its time these people awaken to the reality that jail is not the Beverly Palms Hotel, these criminals have no right to recreation or phone calls and should be thankful they are being incarcerated in the US and not Turkey or Iraq.

Because, of course, all the people in jail are thugs, murderers and rapists. Surely none of them are nonviolent drug offenders. You're right.
And for the record, they should feel lucky they're incarcerated in an non-military prison--even those on American soil. Because those folks get treated pretty poorly, too. But you're quite right, let's only present one side of an argument.
In deference to your equally one sided argument we can always play a swan song for the non-violent drug offenders…oh wait a minute, if you’re on drugs you ARE a thug, in fact that could be viewed as a pre-qualification for membership in Thugs of America, while criminalization of drug use is foolish as the Phalanx has stated repeatedly, that should not presuppose that those convicted of drug offense are fine upstanding citizens they can still be thugs.
And what side of the argument did the Phalanx present anyway are you telling me jail IS the Beverly Palms Hotel and its residents do have rights to recreation and phone calls?
Perhaps you can donate your house to the models of society…
