Thanks a lot Princip!

Ninety-two years ago Serbian terrorists, Gravilo Princip set off a chain of events from which the world is still reeling.
On June 28, 1914, Princip a member of the Black Hand gunned down the Archduke Ferdinand, heir to the Austo-Hungarian thrown. This single act set off a chain of events leading the start of the First World War, a war which cost millions their lives. This war and the unresolved manner in which it ended set the stage for the rise of Hitler and the start of the Second World War, cost many millions more their lives as well.
Had there been no WWII, there would have been no Cold War and thus no Korean or Vietnam Wars. Had there been no Holocaust there would have been no massive Jewish exodus to British Palestine, leading to the present Arab-Israeli conflict.
Thanks a lot Princip, you sure did a number on this planet.
To blame a single act of a single assassin for multiple world wars seems to be an error along the lines of "for want of a nail, the shoe was lost."
The world at that point was an amalgamation of latent tensions, conflicting treaties and burgeoning weapons technologies. Princip may be the spark to the global powder-keg, but to lay the blame on him at the expense of ignoring colliding geo-political factors seems a warped view.
How about the failures of leaders after the assassination to fully exploit diplomatic means of war prevention?
How about the failure of those diplomats that were invoked to do better?
The failure of allied scientists to invent more decisive weapons technologies early on? The success of Nazi engineers in developing excellent chemical weapons?
In my analysis, there's rarely a single person to blame for global issues.
Obviously that is true...by any reasonable understanding of history one could conclude that had their been no assassination in Sarajevo in 1914, then surely some other event would have sparked war among the European powers, not necessarily in 1914, however, perhaps 1918 or 1922, who’s to say?
The point of the post is more satirical and to illustrate how one single event can have a ripple affect throughout history.
For example I could just as easily say that had Hitler been accepted to art school in Vienna there would have been no rise of Nazism in Germany, as Hitler's organizational skill and oratory propelled the party to the pinnacle of power in the Weimar Republic, thus plunging the world into war and holocaust.
Can I say with certainty that Nazism would not have emerged had there been no Hitler? Certainly not, but certainly the world would look vastly different, of THAT I am certain.
I love posts with big fancy words. I actually had to look up amalgamation.
Phalanx, fair enough.
Ray, me too! I had to look up the "Weimar Republic."
