Every year, without exception, reporters the public and anyone in between expresses shock and amazement in this country when it snows during winter or when its hot during summer. This summer is no exception, yes its hot! Deal with it. From New York to DC to LA, people have had to contend with the upper 90s and even the 100s.
Naturally the global warming naysayers will contend that climate change is the cause of this heat, but such arguments lack supporting scientific evidence.
Indeed, this isn’t even the hottest summer on record, that distinction belongs to 1930 when the nations capital suffered 21 days of 100 degrees and above, that summer ushered in the longest drought in US history, Was global warming to blame no, hen as now it was apart of a normal climatological cycle just like the Atlantic hurricane season.

You can take it a step further: why are people surprised when we (only) occasionally bump up against full capacity in the grid? If we smashed through it all the time then we would have cause to build more capacity, but we don't. So the system is (pretty close to) optimally designed. Go figure.
I find it amazing how many people die due to heat. Air conditioning has not been around very long when compared to planet earth. Did the colonists of America drop dead due to heat? Heck as a kid in Florida we did not have air conditioning till age 9. We were poor and did not know any difference. I assumed everyone else just sweated like us.
