Pluto downgraded

Today astronomers from around the world are meeting to determine Pluto’s fate. The news has not been good for the solar system’s smallest planet. After being discovered in 1930, Pluto has been a source of controversy and now astronomers contend that Pluto is a “dwarf planet” as opposed to a full-fledged planet.
The question is how many Americans raised in the public schools could have even identified Pluto as the 9th Planet, or even name the third planet, much less the other seven planets in the Solar System?
It would come as no surprise that most Americans could not pass this simple test…but then again this is what we come to expect with a culture of mediocrity and a lack of competition.
