Dems make history…well not really

Today Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Cavalcade of Stars (sorry Jackie Gleason) once again took control of the United States Congress. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared it an historic day, and proclaimed herself the most powerful woman in America, Hillary Clinton may beg to differ.
But just how historic is it?
For decades the Democrats were in sole possession of the Congress and with what result: the election of a Republican Congress, which turned out to be equally dismal. Exactly how long will it be before the Dems fall into the same trap that snares most politicians once they arrive in Washington. For the left it surely won’t be very long. Even before taking power, they have been befuddled by ethical questions of their own.
One thing is for sure the era of big government, ushered in by FDR remains with a host of social programs and wealth redistribution schemes on the horizon. So is it historic, perhaps, if you regard America’s continued slide into social and political decay and the rejuvenation of US socialism historic.
