Washington resident, Gareth Groves, learned a valuable lesson in understanding just how peace loving and freedom loving the American left really is in this country. Groves is the proud owner of a Hummer, much to the shagrin of his eco-friendly neighbors. Under cover of darkness two masked men launched an attack, as most cowardly terrorists prefer to act.
These terrorists destroyed Groves’ vehicle with a message “for the environ.” Many of Groves’ neighbors have expressed a sense of satisfaction, almost as if he deserved to be the victim of this criminal act.
Indeed one woman, Athema Adams, on the “Today Show” said it best “he’s very proud of himself that he has such a macho vehicle, it belongs in a war zone, send it to Iraq.” There you have it Ms. Adams believes she should determine what type of vehicle we own, perhaps even what type of house we live in and maybe how many kids we should have…in no uncertain terms the smug Groves got his just desserts for having the audacity to believe that this was America, not the Soviet Union where people have a right to own property with an expectation that such property will not be damaged by criminals who appoint themselves as arbiters of right and wrong…

The Authoritarian Putin has played his hand…expressing outrage at the unmitigated gal of the British expulsion of four Russian “diplomats,” the Russian government has responded in kind, expelling four British officials.
This is typical of Putin’s heavy-handed response, after all Putin is quite accustomed to getting his way, how dare the British take exception with Russia release a horde of assassins on the unsuspecting British public, who do they think they are a free people living in a sovereign nation?

These days the administration of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown must surely be longing for the Khrushchev or even the Brezhnev era.
The authoritarian Putin has gone out of his way to bully and cajole his neighbors, to say nothing of his assumption of virtual dictatorial powers on the domestic stage, but then again the people of Russia seem to embrace this erosion of the few personal friends the people of Russia have ever enjoyed. It would not be an exaggeration to contend that Russians today are less free than they were during the 1980s or even the 1960s. Now it seems even Russians outside of Russia aren’t even safe.
First Putin has, former KGB agent and Putin critic, Alexander Litvinenko killed using a highly radioactive poison, endangering the lives of countless Brits, now it appears MI5 only recently foiled another Russian plot to kill billionaire Boris Berezovsky, another vocal critic of Putin. At least when Stalin had Trotsky killed, his assassins didn’t endanger the lives of other innocents.
Given Putin’s brash affront to civilized relations between nations it is no surprise Prime Minister Brown took the action he did, though it would be quite surprising if any good comes from it, after all if Russian media is to be believed, Britain and the West in general are simply targeting Russia, but then again the words “Russian media” is a euphemism for the Kremlin…

It is well known that for the most part today’s left has wholly embraced socialist economic policies; as such Democratic politicians have fallen all over themselves to trumpet their versions of universal health care. As anyone who has ever visited a VA hospital or county run hospital or health clinic can attest, the prospect of government run health care all but assures a decline in the quality of healthcare in the United States. Nonetheless, Universal Healthcare in America is a foregone conclusion. The country has been gradually drifting toward greater government centralization and socialism since the time of the progressive era and as this country has drifted in that direction, each successive generation has freely given up more and more personal liberties and chosen to reject personal responsibility.
The culmination of our rush to create a socialist utopia in the spirit of Hugo Chavez, while abandoning personal responsibility has resulted in two similar proposals for universal healthcare by the highly overrated Barack Obama and the equally underwhelming John Edwards. Both Democratic presidential hopefuls have pledged that once universal socialized medicine is instituted in this country, the government will pay for abortions in addition to other traditional medical procedures.
So now government will support abortion on demand for men and women who have totally rejected the concept of personal responsibility. Pardon me for asking but since when is abortion a necessary medical procedure (at least in most circumstances)? So what’s next universal health coverage for plastic surgery, hair replacement, lasek, etc…
Alas the march toward Marxist ideology knows no bounds….
