Russia launches blitz on Georgia

Yesterday, the
Soviet Union Russia, launched a full scale military assault on its tiny Georgian neighbor. As Russian
dictator Prime Minister, Putin told President Bush, "war has begun." The Russians claim they are acting to restore peace through their use of heavy bombers, and ballistic missiles on the local civilian population.
The Russians also claim that their assault was in response to Georgian attacks on Russian "peacekeepers." Anyone inclined to believe that a nation of 4 million (i.e., Georgia) would launch an attack on the armed forces of a nation of 140 million (i.e., Russia) probably also believed the story propagated by the Nazis that their invasion of Poland in 1939 was in response to Polish incursions.
Putin, who is ranks among the worst of Russia tyrants, has unleashed an unprovoked power grab, coincided with the opening of the Olympics, to further Russian hegemony in the region. Perhaps the Georgians can hold out as the Fins did against the Soviets after another unprovoked Russian attack. Russia's symbols and leaders may change, but its maniacal desire for tyranny and savagery goes unabated....
